Technique Tuesday: Tri-Fold Accordion Card

Hello Stampers!

We have a little sunshine. Who knows how long it will last in light of all the storms heading this way. Scary stuff. We were blessed with Sunshine yesterday for a wonderful Memorial Day celebration and today the sun is out, even though it looks like it is threatening to leave. Hopefully the sun wins out!

Today I made a really cool Tri-Fold Accordion Card I found on Patty Bennett's site at  www.pattystamps.com. It uses almost a half sheet of 12"x 12" DSP and a 5 1/2"x 4 1/4" card base. I love how beautiful it turned out! You get to give a nice size card with all that loveliness of our DSP!

First cut your dsp (watch your direction) 5 1/4"x 11 1/2", then score at 9 1/2", 6 3/4" and 4".
Your design will actually be upside down when you are scoring, so be aware of that. (Ask me how I know 😞)

Cut your base of case stock 5 1/2"x 4 1/4"
Turn your paper to the desired printed side and burnish all score lines well:
Now glue your DSP to your card base, glue the back of the 4" panel as shown:
Glue the short flap down and give everything a good rub:
Your card should look like this:
Now stamp and cut out your front panel, it can be a circle, oval, square or any other desired shape. Cut out a boarder shape as well and an identical shape for inside the card , this will be your mat for your message.
Next glue half to 3/4 of the shape to the front flap, leave a little hang over the edge by centering the shape you have chosen.
Now open your card and lay the mat on top of the one you just glued down using the part that is sticking outside of the card as a guide. Glue the back and gently close the card over the mat to put it into place. You can stamp this before adding to the inside, just be sure to lay it face down and glue the back.
These are very quick to make. I completed three in no time at all.

Just imagine the possibilities, with all that beautiful paper you still have hanging around! Get chopping and gluing! It's as easy as that!
I hope you found this to be a helpful technique for a fun card design.

The catalog is coming to an end and so are a bunch of products. If you would like to order something before it's gone go to my online store here. The new catalog will be coming out June 3rd so be sure to go by the store and check it out. You can use the same link as above. If you would like a catalog, just send me a message with the subject heading "catalog" and let me know your details. I will get back to you ASAP and make it happen!

Thanks everyone for stopping by! Have a great week!
