JUST THE BASICS...

Over the next few weeks I will be covering the basics of papercrafting. The tools you will need and how to use them. Today we will be covering Adhesives. But first a couple of cards I have worked on this past week.

I enjoyed using the beautiful Eastern Beauty Stamp Set, Nature Sings Stamp Set, Eastern Medallions Thinlets , Nature's Poem DSP and Wood Textures DSP.

Just the Basics: Adhesives

There are many different adhesives you can use and their uses are endless, however, there is a right adhesive for the job, as you will learn in the following.

Here is the Adhesives Stampin' Up! carries and their recommended uses:

Multipurpose Glue: This is my #1 go to glue; it is great for holding together your 3D projects as well as your cards for a strong, lasting hold. You don't need as much as you would think and a actually less is more in this case as too much glue can "warp" your project. A very light application is recomended as shown here:

Tear & Tape: This is my #2 for 3D projects, and in fact, if I am making a bulk amount of an item, I use the Tear & Tape. It is strong enough to hold up, as well as quick, less messy, and easy to use.

Fine Tip Glue Pen: A great way to get into those small areas when adding detailed layers or small embellishments to your projects and cards. The pen helps you get all the nook and crannies without the mess. It will holds up well.

Multipurpose Adhesive sheets: Another great way to add detailed layers to your project, especially if you are cutting with a die. Just add the sheet behind your paper before cutting, after cutting, remove the backing off of the sheet and your have a ready to apply die cut for your project or card.

Mini Glue Dots: If you have a small item to add to your project or card, and you want it flat, this is the way to go. No fuss, just add a dot and done! These are very strong, so be sure you put it down where you want it, the first time! I use these dots a lot also.

Now we get to the fun stuff! Adding dimension to your project or card:

Stampin' Dimensionals and Mini Stampin' Dimensionls: These little dots are not too bulky like some others on the market and they are strong. Use the original Stampin' Dimensionals for most layers and the Mini Stampin' Dimensionals for your small layers. They add the perfect height to your layers.

Foam Adhesive Strips: These are great for shaker cards and other Big dimensional projects. These strips hold fast and add secure dimension where you need it most!

And to finish up, a place to add those adhesives that won't get your work area all sticky.

The Silicone Craft Mat: It's perfect for placing under your project before you start adding your adhesive. This mat keeps your work area clean. The mat cleans up easily for multiple uses. It even works well with hot glue and we all know how messy that can get! The mat has other uses in your papercrafting room as well. It can make a reflection stamp, and works to emboss with your dies. This will be discussed in future posts.

As always, you can hop over to my online store and pick up all your papercrafting supplies.
